Our Survey

The survey conducted via Google survey went to show how the issue of income inequality is a topic that the government has neglected and looked over. As the pie chart shows, when people were asked the question ¨Do you think government has done enough intervention to solve this issue?¨, 88.9% of the survey pool answered ¨No¨, 11.1% answered ¨Maybe¨, which goes to show that nobody believes that the government has done enough to solve this issue. As you can see in Figure 1.1

FIGURE 1.1 OPINION OF GOVERNMENT SOLVING INCOME INEQUALITY

When the survey pool was asked “What do you think can be done to solve this issue?” most of the responses received from the survey proposed that the government should invest more of its tax-income on educating the future of Mexico, others proposed a solution in which the government would place higher taxes on the top 10% in Mexicos socioeconomic ladder. This idea of placing higher taxes on the rich, would allow for a much more fluid redistribution of wealth in a country that is suffering from the effects of income inequality. As you can see on Figure 1.2 where you can find responses on the answer

FIGURE 1.2 PROPOSALS OF SOLUTIONS PEOPLE GAVE

The survey pool consisted of college-age Mexican nationals, that all answered ¨Yes¨ when asked the question:¨Is growing poverty a problem in your country?¨. Considering that the people in the survey pool have been raised there whole lives in the country, these people must have first hand experience in seeing the detrimental impact that the issue of poverty has had on the country. Having this first hand experience, avoids all possible propaganda from the media as to how well the country is doing to solve the issue of income inequality and growing poverty. As you can see on Figure 2.1
